PRIME MINISTER CHAIRS NSC MEETING

010Islamabad (HRNW):  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a National Security Committee meeting today at the PM House.

During the course of the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed about the performance of the security forces in Pakistan. PM expressed satisfaction at the performance of the armed forces and also at the counter-terrorism steps being taken by security forces in Pakistan.

The topic of foreign spy agencies such as RAW being involved in subversive activities in Pakistan also came to light during the meeting. The purchase of F-16 warplanes from the United States was also reviewed in the meeting as was the recently-held Nuclear Security Summit in USA discussed.

Those present in the meeting included Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar and other federal ministers.

This morning, FC personnel arrested an Afghan intelligence agent from Chaman, who was in possession of weapons. These weapons were to be used in subversive activities in Balochistan, according to FC sources.
