Karachi (HRNW) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) PS-112 MPA Khurrum Sherzaman lambasted both the Sindh Government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for the woes faced by Karachiites during the current wave of torrential rains in the city.
Mr. Sherzaman took to task the Sindh Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro and Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar for the poor planning and preparations ahead of the monsoon season, as both levels of government are busy in waging a jurisdictional war instead of serving the people of Karachi.
It is shameful that major roads and thoroughfares become rivers and that the drainage system has nearly collapsed. In addition, it is sickening to see garbage floating on the streets.
What is the point of declaring an emergency and both the provincial government and KMC not doing any preparations. This amounts to negligence and incompetence.
The PS-112 MPA demands that the Chief Minister take immediate notice and action and demand the resignation of Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro.
Furthermore, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar should step down if he truly believes that he is not sufficiently empowered as Mayor to tackle the problems caused by rains.
