3 IS-linked militants arrested from Karachi’s outskirts: SSP Malir

Karachi (HRNW): Karachi police on Monday claimed to have arrested three militants allegedly linked to the militant Islamic State (IS) group from the outskirts of the metropolis. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar said that police conducted a raid at a house in the Ahsanabad area of Karachi after receiving a tip from an intelligence agency. Officials recovered two 30-bore pistols, one 9mm pistol along with propaganda literature from the possession of the suspects, the SSP said. “Books, pamphlets, stickers and CDs regarding terrorism were recovered from their custody,” Rao Anwar said. He claimed that the suspects were planning to recruit young people for their militant group. The detained suspects were identified as Muhammad Umer, Khalid Minhas and Shakeel Ahmed.
