Karachi (HRNW): The citizens of Karachi have been given one-month deadline to make their licenses and get helmets for themselves. Karachi police chief Amir Sheikh said that the violators of helmet rule will not be challaned now but will be sent directly to jail. He further said that over 100 persons were caught violating the one-way rule. He said that the drivers below 18 years of age will also be punished by taking their cars in policy custody.
The Karachi police chief requested the people to must wear a helmet and cooperated with the traffic police in enforcing one-way and license rules. The Lahore High Court (LHC) had on Sep 11 made it compulsory for the motorcyclists to wear a helmet while those not wearing a helmet are fined Rs 1000. Following the court orders, the City Traffic Police launched a crackdown against the motorcyclists for violating helmet rule being enforced on the orders of the Lahore High Court.
