Germany to take up to 26 migrants from vessel stranded off Malta

Berlin (dpa) – Germany will take up to 26 of the 62 migrants who have been stranded on the Alan Kurdi charity vessel off Malta, the interior ministry said Saturday. In a statement posted on Twitter, the ministry said Germany had “raised its acceptance level” in agreeing to take the migrants. The Maltese government earlier announced that the migrants on board the vessel will disembark on Malta before being transferred to Germany, France, Portugal and Luxembourg.
