Engine problem setback for Ferrari’s Vettel in Barcelona tests

Former world Sebastian Vettel suffered another setback in pre-season Formula One testing on Friday in Spain when his Ferrari stopped with a technical problems.

The German had completed 40 laps in Barcelona when the mishap occurred and the car had to be towed back into the pits.

“We had to stop due to an engine problem, whose exact cause we will investigate back in Maranello,” Ferrari tweeted.

Vettel missed the opening day of testing Wednesday because he didn’t feel well, with team-mate Charles Leclerc doing the driving. The two then shared Thursday’s action.

But he was back out Friday afternoon after a new engine was fitted into the car.

Another three days of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya are scheduled for next week. The season starts on March 15 in Australia.
