Karachi (HRNW)- In pursuance of the federal government’s desire to provide relief to the neediest of different areas of the country during the prevailing lockdown situation, Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar alongwith Mr Mahmood Molvi, member KPT board of trustees and area MPA Shahnawaz jadoon, distributed 4000 food items ration bags in the port adjoining areas of Karachi. Of these, 2000 bags were handed over to local area leaders and UC chairmen of Baba and Bhit islands and the remaining of 2000 bags in Liyari and Keamari areas through Pak Rangers Sindh. In view of local area leadership’s feed back and reports of food shortages in these areas,Honourable Governor Sindh Mr Imran Ismail had personally desired provision of ration bags in these areas. Governor Sind coordinated with all concerned accordingly to ensure provision of the relief.
It is the second time that KPT took the initiative of provision of the ration bags through generous contribution made by Hutchison port Pakistan. Earlier 3000 ration bags were also handed over by KPT to governor Sindh for distribution at Hyderabad and Lakhra areas of interior Sind.
Besides this, KPT is continuing its spraying of chlorine water disinfectant on daily basis throughout the city including Manora, Baba and Bhit islands, in coordination with local areas political leadership, to lessen the impact of prevailing Corona Virus (Covid-19) impact as part of its CSR obligations.
