Reports: Nagelsmann set to be Bayern Munich coach in mega-deal

Julian Nagelsmann is set to join Bayern Munich as their new coach for next season after the German record champions agreed a massive deal to buy him out of his RB Leipzig contract, reports said on Tuesday.

Nagelsmann will be allowed to join the Munich giants from July 1 after Bayern agreed to pay Leipzig up to 25 million euros (30.1 million dollars) for the highly-rated young coach, according to the Bild newspaper and Sport Bild magazine.

Bayern are seeking a new boss as treble winning coach Hansi Flick has requested an early end to his contract which runs to 2023. Flick is reported to be a strong contender to replace Joachim Loew as Germany coach after Euro 2020.

And Bayern have seemingly moved quickly to fill the seat on their bench with 33-year-old Nagelsmann deemed the man to lead the team in future.

Nagelsmann, 33, will become the most expensive coach in Bundesliga history having also been the youngest when he first coached Hoffenheim.

He joined Leipzig in 2019 and led them to the Champions League semi-finals last season. This term they are second in the domestic league behind leaders Bayern and continue to chase a maiden title for club and coach against Werder Bremen in the German Cup semi-final on Friday.
