Khushab by-elections: Vote count underway in PS-84

Lahore (HRNW) Polling for PS-84 Khushab by-elections ended at 5pm and the counting of votes is underway in the constituency.

PML-N’s Malik Moazzam has been leading the by-polls with 6,351 votes, according to unofficial results of 25 polling stations.

He is followed by PTI’s Ali Hussain Khan, who has so far secured 4,608 votes.

Residents polled their votes to elect their representative in the Punjab Assembly Wednesday. The voting began at 8am.

The PS-84 seat fell vacant after PML-N MPA Malik Muhammad Waris Kallu died from the novel coronavirus last year. Kallu won the elections in 2018 with 66,775 votes.

Eight candidates are contesting this year. A tough competition is expected between PPP’s Ghulam Habib, PML-N’s Moazzam Sher, and PTI’s Ali Hussain Baloch.
