A not quite 3-year-old boy drove a car about 150 metres in the central German town of Peine on Saturday before crashing into a traffic sign, police said.

The 32-month-old child took a key belonging to one of his parents and used it to start the family’s car, according to police.

Another motorist who spotted the accident managed to remove the key and get the car under control.

No one was injured.

Investigators want to clarify how the boy got the key and how he was able to drive the car in the first place.
