41 captives rescued, many al-Qaeda affiliates killed by ANDSF

Kabul (HRNW) The ministry of Defense in a released statement on Tuesday said that Afghan army’s commando units freed up to 41 people from Taliban prison.

Fawad Aman, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said Tuesday that Afghan commandos carried out a special operation on Monday night over a Taliban prison in the Marwa village of Pashtun Zarghun district in Herat Province.

According to Aman 41 people including 19 Afghan National Defense and Security Force members and 22 captive civilians were released from the Taliban jail.

The deputy spokesman for MoD added that seven Taliban militants were also killed and some of their weapons and ammunition were also destroyed during the operation.
