PM launches scholarship portal to address student complaints

Islamabad (HRNW) Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched the Scholarship Complaint Portal, which would ensure merit and “nation-building.”

The portal would immediately solve the problems faced by students on scholarships in Pakistan, the prime minister said.

It will be linked to Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal, and the complaint will be reviewed by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The prime minister held the 18th amendment responsible for problems faced by the higher education sector.

He said due to the amendment the scholarship data is not centralized. “I had no idea about how many scholarships Pakistan offers when I came into power.” he said.

He vowed to use modern technology to create a centralised system on merit criteria, verification process and complaints about scholarships.

The prime minister stressed the need for creating a connection between the education policy and nation-building. “The main purpose of the education system is to promote relevant subjects to elevate the country,” he said.

“Relevancy in the education sector is the key to direct the youth.”

The government has rolled out scholarships worth more than Rs28b for “deserving and talented” students. According to the education ministry, at least 2.6 million students have been enrolled under these scholarships.

Rahmatul Lil Alameen Scholarship has been launched to provide guidelines to the younger generation and to bring merit, the prime minister said.

“Scandinavia countries and Switzerland have adopted the principles of the State of the Madinah to provide welfare to their citizens,” he said. “They have been ahead of the world because they follow these principles.”
