Karachi (HRNW) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) MNA Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain passed away in Karachi, hospital officials confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

The 50-year-old had been found motionless in his bedroom by his driver.

He was subsequently rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead by a doctor upon his arrival.

Aamir is survived by two children, Dua and Ahmed. He had married thrice.

Even though police had hoped to conduct an autopsy of Aamir to determine the exact cause of his death. However, Aamir’s family arrived at the hospital and despite the insistence of police and JPMC officials, they refused the exam and shifted his body to the Chhipa morgue located on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

According to District East SSP Sardar Abdul Raheem Shirazi, Aamir’s driver called a rescue team (Chhipa) and informed them that he was unresponsive.

“A rescue team took him to the Aga Khan University Hospital where doctors verbally pronounced him dead,” the SSP said.

Raheem maintained that they had not seen any “mark of violence” on Aamir’s body, adding that the police will be moving his body for a postmortem exam to ascertain the actual cause of his death.

“A team of the Crime Scene Unit has reached Aamir’s house to gather evidence,” he said, adding that some banned substances, including alcohol and cocaine, had been discovered in his house.
