PPP, MQM-P appoint Fakhir Shakir as Hyderabad Administrator

HYDERABAD: (HRNW) Municipal Commissioner Fakhir Shakir has taken charge as city administrator after local leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan approved his name for the post, sources informed media on Thursday.

Sindh Local Bodies Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has signed the notification. The decision has been taken in light of the agreement between MQM-P and PPP days before the No-Confidence Vote against former prime minister Imran Khan was tabled.

Hyderabad Administrator Shakir has reportedly said that solving civic issues will remain his priority.

Meanwhile, PPP has also invited the MQM-P to join Sindh cabinet and offered them as many as two ministries, sources informed Bol News. In a meeting held at the MQM-P’s Bahadurabad office it was decided that a high-level delegation of the MQM-P is expected to meet PPP Co-Chairpersons – Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari – in coming days.

In the meeting both sides discussed the draft document on local bodies presented by the MQM-P, moreover, the PPP has agreed to give the power of muncipal functions to councillors and has accepted a clause related to Provincial Finance Commission.
