UO commemorates 75th Independence Day with fervor

Okara (HRNW) The 75th Independence Day of Pakistan was commemorated with great zeal and patriotic passion at the University of Okara where the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid along with the Assistant Commissioner of Renala Khurd Chaudhary Zia Ullah and members of syndicate including Mazhar Hussain Sahi and Dr Zaeem-u-Din Lakhvi hoisted the flag followed by plantation and cake cutting. The focal person for all these events was the Assistant Professor of Zoology Dr Rana Manzoor Ahmed.
At the flag hoisting ceremony, the security personnel of the university, led by the Chief Security Officer Nobahar Khan, presented guard of honor and national anthem was performed. Earlier, the all strategic buildings of the campus were illuminated in green. A two-day streak of speech ad essay writing competitions were also organized in connection with the Independence Day.
Addressing to the ceremony, Prof Wajid told that his administration would run the university on the ideals of meritocracy and honesty as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. He advised the faculty and the students to adopt the culture of hard work and dedication. He also vowed to provide state-of-the-art research and educational facilities to the students.
The AC said that the nation needed to stick to the teachings of Quaid in order to prosper. Dr Zaeem advised the participants to follow the Islamic principals in true letters and spirit as the creation of Pakistan was based on Islamic Ideology. Mazhar Sahi wished happy Independence Day to the university community and urged them to work hard to take the institution to the heights of academic excellence.
