Okara (HRNW) The Vice Chancellor, University of Okara, Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid, has initiated a campaign to collect funds and necessary utensils for the victims of the countrywide floods. He also vowed to provide on-spot services like healthcare and mechanical eradication of dengue and malaria larva.
This was decided in a meeting of the university faculty and administrative staff. The UO’s Registrar, Dr Muhammad Tahir Khan, has been made focal person for this support program.
Addressing to the meeting, the VC referred to a meeting of all Vice Chancellors with the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) who instructed the educational administrators to put relentless efforts for the support of the affected people. He further said all institutions were working to provide food and shelter services to the flood victims but the UO administration would go an extra mile to work on the supply of essential medicines and other healthcare amenities.
“I will personally visit the affected areas of the southern Punjab and strive to raise awareness along with on-ground work of technical removal of the potential water containers like certain wrappers where dengue larva can grow,” told the VC.
Prof Wajid also applauded the efforts of the university’s two senior administrative officers including Sadiq Amin and Rana Javaid Rasheed for privately collecting and delivering more than two containers of food items to the affected areas. Sadiq told that they planned to provide support to around 300 families.
