BISP distributes 52.65 billion rupees among 21 million flood-affected families: Shazia Marri

Karachi (HRNW) Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social safety & Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program, Shazia Atta Marri has said that Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has distributed more than Rs.52.65 billion rupees among the 21 million flood affected families as per 25 thousands to each family under Benazir Emergency Cash Assistance till today and so far the process of distribursement of financial aid to the flood victims is still continued.

She said the financial aid is being disbursed among deserving flood-hit families in a transparent manner and illegal deduction from the aid money should not be tolerated and strict legal action should be initiated against those who would found in any criminal activity or illegal deduction from the aid amount.

This she has expressed in an important video message released by her today. Federal Minister and Chairperson BISP told that Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had announced to disburse Rs 25 thousands to each flood affected families through Benazir Income Support Program under the Flood Emergency Cash Assistance and till today 21 million families have been covered in this initiative.

She said Pakistan is currently facing a very serious situation due to catrophe of floods and the people are in miseries and difficulties. The Federal Government alongwith the provincial governments are striving for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims by utilizing all the available resources. She said that Benazir Income Support Programme is endeavouring it’s best to cover the remaining flood affected people so far Rs. 25,000would be distributed among all the remaining families soon.

She reiterated that we adopted zero tolerance policy against those criminal elements who illegaly deduct amount from the financial aid of the flood victims and FIRs have been also lodged against such criminal elements.
