Plan to store 6 million gallons of additional water

Rawalpindi (HRNW) A project was approved to further improve water supply to the twin cities by thoroughly cleaning Rawal Dam, which supplies water to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Funding will be sourced from Punjab Government, Asian Development Bank and World Bank.

According to the sources, instructions have been issued by the Punjab government to increase the capacity of Rawal Dam, under which additional water up to 6 million gallons can be stored after cleaning the dam.

Chairman RDA Tariq Murtaza has said that the project will be started by March 31 of this year after obtaining the permission of the Chief Minister of Punjab for the feasibility study in one month.

He said that with the completion of the Galaxy Water Supply Scheme, 9 new tube wells have been installed on the banks of the Swan River.
