Okara (HRNW)- Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Dean Faculty of Geo Sciences at University of the Punjab, has been appointed as third Vice Chancellor of the University of Okara (UO).
Prof Rashid earned his PhD degree from University of Windsor, Canada and served at various high-profile academic and administrative positions at the PU including Controller of Examinations, Resident Officer, Director Student Affairs and Member Syndicate. He has numerous national and international awards and research accomplishments to his credit.
While talking to a meeting of faculty and administrative staff upon his first day at the UO, the VC applauded the contributions of the former VCs including Prof Dr Zakria Zakar and Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid for uplifting the academic infrastructure of the university and vowed to perpetuate their policies during his tenure.
He also declared to work for perking up the ranking of the university and strengthening the culture of applied research in order to provide solutions to various social and economic challenges of the country.
