Imran will be candidate for by-polls of 33 NA seats, says Qureshi

Lahore (HRNW) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) has decided to contest all by-elections of 33 National Assembly seats and the party Chairman Imran Khan will be candidate of the party on all these seats.

This was announced by PTI Senior Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi along with wife of the party imprisoned leader Hibba Fawad Chaudhry and other leaders at Zaman Park on Sunday in a press conference after the party’s core committee in Lahore

Qureshi said that former PTI members of national assembly would be covering candidates, adding that a section is against Imran Khan but expressed hope that their nefarious designs would end in smoke.

The NA seats had fallen vacant earlier this month when NA Speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf accepted the resignations of PTI lawmakers and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid.

The PTI resigned en masse in April last year after the ouster of Khan as the prime minister, but only 11 resignations were accepted in July. Later, as the party tried to stage a comeback to the house, the speaker began accepting their resignations and in a couple of days, he accepted 113 more, including the 33.
