Case registered after mob sets robbers on fire in Karachi

KARACHI: (HRNW) A case has been lodged after an enraged mob set two suspected robbers on fire to death in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area of Karachi.

Police registered the case of the incident in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station against unknown persons who violently thrashed the robbers and set them on fire.

The criminals were escaping after robbing a citizen when they were caught by local residents. They were subjected to the worst torture before being set on fire.

The complaint, filed by the police, states the deceased were identified as Nadir Hussain and Muhammad Imran. It added that both had a criminal record.

Police said cases have been registered against the Nadir in various police stations of Korangi, Malir, and Central districts. A case was registered against Imran in West District

Police said more than 20 people have been detained and are under investigation. Police added that more than six people are still in custody and are being interrogated.

The incident occurred on Saturday when an enraged mob burnt two suspected robbers to death near 4K Chowrangi in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area.

The crowd reportedly caught the suspected robbers and set them on fire after thrashing them. bPolice said the robbers died on the spot due to burn injuries.

Police said one pistol and two mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the dacoits. The robbers were caught while mugging people at a petrol pump.

Police said both robbers were fleeing after snatching valuables from a citizen named Jibran. The man started shouting as they were running away when shopkeepers and passersby standing nearby caught them.

Police said the bullet got stuck in the pistol’s chamber when the robbers tried to open fire. Police added that multiple unknown people tortured and set them on fire.
