Karachi minor girl rape, murder suspect arrested from KP

KARACHI: (HRNW) Police have arrested a suspect who kidnapped, raped and brutally murdered a minor girl in Quaidabad area of Karachi last year.

According to Senior Superintendent (SSP) Investigation Malir district Arab Maher, the suspect was apprehended from Mansehra district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a press conference, the police officer said six-year-old Muniba, daughter of Maqbool, was murdered after being sexually assaulted. The minor child’s body was found in Quaidabad area on November 18 last year.

Medical examination revealed that the minor was raped before being killed. The alleged suspect had escaped to Mansehra after committing the heinous incident.

Police registered a case and obtained DNA samples of the suspect from the body of the victim, which matched with the DNA of accused Sher Rehman alias Kaka.

Police collected the DNA samples of 59 suspects as part of the investigation. After two and a half months of struggle, the accused Sher Rehman was caught from Oghi Hazara area of Mansehra.

Police shared all his details with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police who eventually tracked down the suspect and arrested him and duly informed the Malir police.

SSP Mahar said the accused told police that another accomplice was also involved in the incident and efforts are being made to apprehend him.
