PPP wants to bring majority through forgery, says Naeem announcing protest

KARACHI: (HRNW) Jamaat e Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman on Tuesday said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) wanted to bring majority in the local government elections results through forgery. He also announced that the JI would hold protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office in Karachi on March 10.

Hafiz Naeem said the ECP itself was involved in falsely increasing the PPP numbers to show its majority. “We will protect each and every vote. The dream of Jiyala mayor will not fulfill,” he said adding that JI votes were wasted with open bags.

He said the Karachiites would never support the PPP. In many towns, results were announced as per wish of the PPP, he maintained.

He said brother of provincial minister Saeed Ghani was made to win election through rigging.

The people of Orangi Town rejected the PPP as the party had nothing to do with Orangi Town, he said adding that the PPP won election there with the help of returning officers.

Hafiz Naeem said the ECP should work as an institute rather than a party worker. He said the ROs issued results without making Forms 11 and 12.

“The PPP got the desired results by pressurizing ROs. The ECP became a hostage by the PPP. Our votes were wasted by fake stamping,” he said.

The JI Karachi chief said he had apprised the ECP about irregularities during re-counting, but the ECP still issued the notification.
