NADRA launches special helpline for transgender individuals in Pakistan

LAHORE (HRNW) – In honor of the International Day of Transgender Visibility, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) announced a special helpline for transgender individuals. The helpline would feature a transgender correspondent who would respond to all queries and concerns of transgender persons calling in for assistance.

The announcement was made on Friday, with NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik inaugurating the new helpline. The move was being hailed as a major step towards recognizing and supporting the transgender community in Pakistan.

NADRA had been working to ensure that transgender individuals were included in the country’s national identity database. In a statement, the organization said that this helpline was part of its efforts to make the registration process more accessible and user-friendly for the transgender community.

The helpline would be manned by NADRA’s transgender employees, who have undergone extensive training to provide support and assistance to callers.
