Larkana (HRNW) President of PPP Sindh and Senator Nisar Khoro has said that no other decision is acceptable except holding elections on the same day across the country. If any other decision is taken other than holding the elections on the same day across the country, there will be protests all over Sindh.
If the Supreme Court can talk about the scope on the consensus of all the political parties, then there can be scope for holding elections in the country on the same day. There is concern over the decision of the court, so the Supreme Court should review its unilateral decision by forming a full court.
Addressing a press conference at Larkana Press Club, Nisar Khoro said that even if political parties sit down, there should not be separate elections in the country. The Supreme Court’s date of holding the Punjab Assembly elections on May 14 does not fall under the category of 90 days and is therefore not constitutional.
Who has authorized the Supreme Court to deviate from the constitution and set the date of elections in Punjab on May 14? If the court has to save fees on a wrong decision, then a full court should be made. The Full Court looked into the rationale behind the dissolution of the Punjab and KP Assembly. If the Punjab and KP assembly have to be restored, then they should be restored, caretaker governments should be established after the term is over and elections should be held in the country one day. Parliament also has the power to amend the constitution to make laws. The powers of Parliament cannot be interfered with.
