Fully prepared for elections scheduled for February 8: Muhammad Ahmed Shah

Karachi (HRNW) Important press conference was held in the Sindh Assembly to address the current situation regarding elections and security. Provincial Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, briefed the media, stating that the confusion surrounding the elections has been resolved. All provincial governments are fully prepared for the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8. From February 5 to February 10, sensitive polling stations will have a deployment of Pakistan Armed Forces. In accordance with the Election Commission’s directives, necessary preparations are being made, and holidays for staff at polling stations have been canceled. Presiding Officers will not go home, and their leave has been revoked. The Sindh government has allocated funds for all essential requirements and assured the presence of police, Rangers, and the Pakistan Army. The total number of polling stations is ninety-one thousand six hundred, including five thousand nine hundred seventy six normal polling stations, six thousand five hundred and Thirty One sensitive polling stations, and six hundred ninety-six highly sensitive polling stations. One hundred twenty-five thousand police officers and a Rapid Action Force of Seven thousand will be deployed. Additionally, five hundred fifty officers from the Excise Police will be part of the security detail. Lady Health Workers will number twenty-two thousand eight hundred seventy. A fund of 1.5 billion rupees has been released for three hundred eighty-six schools affected by floods. More than five thousand cameras have been installed, ensuring data security. Computers and wireless systems have also been set up. Muhammad Ahmed Shah, the provincial minister, emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in disseminating information to sensitive institutions. Efforts have been ongoing for months to improve law and order. Security planning has been finalized, and all agencies are collaborating with the Election Commission. For the first time, action will be taken against absentee employees who do not perform national duty during the elections. Coordination with major political parties is ongoing, and cooperation is requested for the elections. Section 144 has been enforced, and mobile services should remain active on Election Day. Contingency plans are in place for any unforeseen circumstances. In the face of internal and external threats, concerted efforts are being made to ensure stability in Pakistan.
