Naeac visits KU for accreditation assessment

A two-member delegation of the National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council on Friday visited the University of Karachi to assess the quality of academic programs at the departments of agriculture and agribusiness and physiology.

The Secretary Naeac Dr Abdul Ghaffar and Professor Dr Manzoor Ali Abro met the KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Registrar Professor Dr Abdul Waheed, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Professor Dr Musarat Jahan Yousuf, faculty members of departments of agriculture and agribusiness and physiology, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell Professor Dr Syed Imran Ali at the VC Secretariat, other members of the QEC were also present on this occasion.

The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi mentioned that the administration is making sure to implement the recommendation of the Naeac and already fulfilled most of the Naeac’s proposals. He shared that visitors would witness the improvement in both departments. He shared that Naeac’s visit surely helped in further improving the quality of education and research at the university.

Later, Dr Abdul Ghaffar and Professor Dr Manzoor Ali Abro conducted comprehensive assessments of the departments. The visit encompasses the zero visit of the BS Poultry Science program at the Department of Physiology, as well as the accreditation visit of Plant Pathology at the Department of Agriculture and Agribusiness Management.

The thorough discussions and self-assessment reports prepared with the help of KU QEC, by the university’s faculty and staff as per the standards of the Higher Education Commission-Islamabad, reflect its commitment to maintaining high standards of academic excellence and ensuring the continuous enhancement of its programs.

The Naeac delegation was briefed about the notable progress of the university despite resource constraints. They were also briefed about the advancements in academic and research fields and scholarships and internships offered to students as well as sports and student-oriented activities and facilities that occurred on the campus besides alumni engagement and international collaborations with the universities and organizations.

On this occasion, the visitors informed the KU that Naeac has facilitated internships in collaboration with private sectors for graduates from all over universities and it had other initiatives for the varsities, faculties, and students as well.
