Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar appointed deputy prime minister

LAHORE (HRNW) – Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the country’s deputy prime minister.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Sunday, formally assigning Dar the additional charge of deputy prime minister, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval.

As per the notification, the appointment was made by PM Shehbaz “with immediate effect and until further orders”.

With this appointment, Ishaq Dar becomes Pakistan’s second deputy prime minister. Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has previously served as the deputy prime minister of Pakistan.

Dar’s appointment coincides with PM Shehbaz’s visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) special meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth and Energy.
