Need to improve quality of engineering education in Pakistan: Avan Amalsad

KARACHI (HRNW)  Engineers play the backbone role in any economy and there is a dire need to improve quality of engineering education in Pakistan, says Avan Amalsad, of Trailblazers Engineers.

Trailblazers Engineers is a non-profit professional organisation comprising former NEDIANS that has initiated a program to award scholarships to deserving engineering students at the NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi.

The first program in this regard was held in June 2022, Karachi, under the leadership of Avan Amalsad, who pioneered the idea and continues to oversee it with great dedication.

The third in the series of scholarship award programs was held yesterday at the Flamingo Ballroom in Karachi. The function was well attended by the scholarship recipients and their parents, Trailblazers office-bearers, former prominent NEDIANS, faculty members, and other guests.

A total of 29 scholarships were awarded, the number having progressively increased over time.

Trailblazers Engineers is committed to making this program sustainable through rigorous internships for students by engaging with professional consulting and construction firms and individuals.

This is a unique feature that adds great value to the overall experience of the students.

More than 60 scholarships have been awarded so far.

However, Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor, who himself is an engineer educated from the NED University Karachi greeted Avan Amalsad on this great initiative and praised the services of the Parsi community for promoting education in Karachi.

He said there are many institutions in the health and education sector founded by the Parsi community in Karachi including BVS School, Mama Parsi School, Lady Dufferin hospital, NED University of Engineering and Technology, DOW medical college, and the Spencer Eye hospital.

Altaf Shakoor expressed hope that Trailblazers Engineers would continue to serve the nation and country particularly in the field of quality engineering education.
