Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar takes action against Police Officers involved in MirpurKhas tragedy.

Karachi (HRNW) Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar has said that we believe in the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law, and will protect the rights of every citizen in the province.

He was addressing a press conference today at the Directorate of Social Media office regarding the MirpurKhas incident.

Sindh Home Minister said that the People’s Party has always advocated for democracy and people’s rights, adding that our Chairman PPP is against any kind of extremism in the country.

Sindh Home Minister said that in the aftermath of MirpurKhas tragedy, we have removed DIG Mirpur Khas from his post and assigned Zubair Dreshak as the new DIG to strengthen the rule of law and boost the morale of police, adding that, SSP Umerkot and Mirpur Khas have also been removed from their positions.

Sindh Home Minister said that a comprehensive 31-page report has been prepared, investigating all aspects of the Mirpurkhas/Umerkot tragedy. Based on the report, we are ordering FIRs against involved officers, and the committee has recommended registering FIRs against the perpetrators.

“If the victim’s family doesn’t file a case, the Sindh Government will pursue it. No matter how influential or senior an officer is, we will hold everybody accountable,” said Sindh Home Minister.

During the Q&A session, Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar assured the media that legal action is being taken against DIG, SSP, and other officers/officials involved in the incident.

He expressed hope that investigations into Dr Shahbaz’s social media posts will reveal more facts.

Provincial Minister for Education Syed Sardar Shah, IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, and DIG Shaheed Benazirabad Division were also present.
