Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s bail pleas rejected in Toshakhana-II case

RAWALPINDI (HRNW) – Rawalpindi accountability court has rejected the bail pleas of former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana-II case.

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi heard the bail pleas of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

FIA prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi along with his team and Barrister Salman Safdar representing Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi appeared before the court.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were both present at the special court established inside Adiala Jail.

The prosecution contended that Imran Khan received a valuable jewellery set worth Rs 70 million from Saudi Arabia and retained it for Rs2.9 million. Imran Khan retained valuables without depositing them in the Toshakhana repository.

Prosecution requested to discard Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s bail pleas as the case against them was proved.

Defense lawyer Salman Safdar stated that Toshakhana-II case was similar to earlier reference, both having same allegations, approver and accused. He requested the court to accept his clients’ bail pleas.

Consequently, the court reserved the verdict on the accused’s application after hearing arguments of both parties in the case.

After some time, the court pronounced the verdict and rejected the bail pleas of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana-II case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed another Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on August 20.
