BAHRIA TOWN CONTINUES TO GRAB IN KARACHI

Karachi (HRNW): Reports of illegal means used by Bahria Town to grab land amidst operation in Karachi are surfacing again. Bahria Town has been working for “development” across the country however the real estate and developer has left a trail of illegal activities and acquisitions.

Last year, Rangers official in a report stated that Bahria Town acquired 44,000 acres of Government land through different means only to be denied by Bahria Town. A case was also lodged after 10 years of struggle against the Town in Rawalpindi late last year.

Bahria Town claimed to own 7,631 acres of land in Karachi mostly in the Malir district that houses around 45 goths. These settlements have been in the area for around a century whereas, ownership papers of several goths were ignored by the Police and Malir Development Authority to clear land for Bahria Town.

According to the reports, Inspector Khan Nawaz has lead several Police operations in different goths to “clear” privately owned land for Bahria Town. In addition, Malir Development Authority has also failed to present any ownership documents in the Court.

Operations were also conducted in Juma Goth and Ali Mohammad Goth, whereas according to the media report residents of these goths have been complaining about harassment from Malir Police to illegal acquire land for Bahria Town.
