JAP seeks immediate withdrawal of production order issued by NA speaker for Shehbaz

Lahore (HRNW): The Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) has written a letter to Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, seeking withdrawal of production orders of former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif,  According to the JAP, production orders of a person, undergoing physical remand ordered by the court, could not be issued. The letter said the investigation into cases involving Shehbaz Sharif was also hampered due to previous productions orders issued by the Lower House of the parliament. “It is requested that the orders should be withdrawn immediately”, the letter reads. The JAP said it would approach the top court if the production order was not taken back.
On November 22, the accountability court had allowed seven-day transit remand of Shehbaz Sharif so he could attend the session of the National Assembly. Asad Qaisar, Speaker National Assembly, had sent a production order to the National Accountability Bureau seeking participation of the Opposition Leader in NA Shehbaz Sharif during the session on Friday. This was the third time NAB requested for the PML-N president’s transit remand. On November 10, Shahbaz’s physical remand was extended until Nov 24. Earlier, on November 6, an accountability court in Islamabad had extended his transit remand until Nov 10.
