German authorities shut down child pornography website after raids

German investigators have shut down an online child pornography platform following raids in seven German states last week, public prosecutors in Frankfurt said on Monday.

Nine suspects are thought to have exchanged child pornography via the “Tor Chat Directory,” a website allegedly operated by a 43-year-old man from the Schwaebisch-Hall district of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Investigators said the suspects not only exchanged pornographic texts but also possibly organized meet-ups to sexually abuse children.

A total of 26 houses and apartments in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony were searched during Wednesday’s raids. No arrests were made. The suspected users of the platform are between 35 and 61 years old.
