KU makes arrangement to observe the annular solar eclipse

Karachi (HRNW)- The Institute of Space and Planetary Astrophysics (ISPA), University of Karachi, has made arrangement to observe the annular solar eclipse at the Astronomical Observatory on Thursday, Dec 26, 2019, the Director ISPA, Professor Dr Muhammad Jawed Iqbal, announced on Monday.

He mentioned that an annular solar eclipse will begin at 7:35 am, reaches maximum at 8:46 am and ends at 10:30 am. According to him, this spectacular view will last about three hours.

Professor Dr Jawed said that when the Moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun’s, blocking most of the Sun’s light and causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring), it is called the solar eclipse.

The Director ISPA added that students, faculty members, media and the general public are invited to witness one of the rare events of the solar system.
