Berlin (dpa) – Berlin firefighters were called out some 1,523 times over New Year’s, an increase compared to the 1,385 calls made the previous year.
Between 7 pm (1800 GMT) and 6 am (0500 GMT), the fire service had to tackle 617 fires, it said on Twitter.
By comparison last year, the emergency services were called out 1,385 times, and had to put out 432 fires.
There were 24 assaults on firefighters this year, the fire service said, compared to 49 over the New Year in 2018/2019.
