German football boss sets Euro 2020 semi-final target

Germany’s goal at Euro 2020 should be “at least the semi-finals,” the country’s football federation boss said on Tuesday.

DFB president Fritz Keller said that based on recent performances his hopes were high for the national team at the pan-European tournament from June 12-July 12.

“I believe we should reach at least the semi-finals, and perhaps get to the final,” he said in Leipzig.

Keller, attending an event to mark the DFB’s 120th birthday, added: “When I see the pleasure to play and the hunger of the last games, it gives me hope.”

Germany qualified for Euro 2020 at the top of Group C with one defeat and seven victories. The qualification followed the team’s early exit as 2014 world champions at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
