Loew dampens Mueller talk, player says he has ‘no interest’ in Euros

Germany coach Joachim Loew has played down speculation linking Bayern Munich’s in-form Thomas Mueller with a return to the national team.

Loew decided last year to overlook Mueller, Bayern team-mate Jerome Boateng and defender Mats Hummels for the foreseeable future, with Euro 2020 starting in June. He is sticking to his guns.

“The probability is relatively low if everyone is fit,” Loew told Sky on Sunday during the 0-0 draw between leaders Bayern and second-placed RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Mueller responded: “The coach has made his decision. The European Championship is of no interest at all to me at the moment.”
