Okara (HRNW)- The sustainable development goals cannot be achieved without the women’s participation and involvement into the social mainstream, said the Vice Chancellor University of Okara Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakria Zakar while addressing to a seminar, organized in connection with the International Women’s Day.
Dr. Zakar further told that women constituted more than half of Pakistan’s population and it was need of the hour to educate them and bring them to the fold so that they could play an active part in the wellbeing of their families, communities and the society at large.
“We can address a range of social and economic problems such as early marriages, population explosion, poverty, malnutrition, maternal mortality and child mortality by simply educating our women”, said the VC.
According to the university spokesperson, the UO is working on the lines of reducing gender gap in the region as females constitute about 70 percent of the students there, and a majority of those hail from rural and lower socio-economic backgrounds.
