Malls, markets to open on weekends till Eid: chief justice

Islamabad (HRNW)  Pakistan’s shopping malls and markets to stay open on weekends until the Eid, clarified Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Tuesday as the top court resumed hearing the coronavirus pandemic case.

“We are looking out for the entire country,” he said, adding that they can’t close their eyes and ears to what is happening in the country.

On Monday, the court ordered all provinces to open shopping malls so that people can prepare for Eidul Fitr.

“The blame for opening the malls shouldn’t be placed on the Supreme Court,” said Justice Sardar Tariq. The Punjab and Islamabad advocate generals told us that they are opening malls, so we ordered Sindh to open them too just to ensure that there is no discrimination, he added.
