Berlin (dpa) – Eintracht Frankfurt expect to be without veteran midfielder Gelson Fernandes for up to four weeks after he suffered a calf ligament injury at the weekend.
Frankfurt said Tuesday that the 33-year-old picked up the injury in Saturday’s Bundesliga win away to Wolfsburg when he played as a substitute.
The Swiss was making his comeback from a previous torn ligament injury and said recently he would end his playing career after the season.
Midtable Eintracht travel to Werder Bremen for a rearranged Bundesliga game on Wednesday and have five further league matches left in the season, plus a cup semi-final away to Bayern Munich and possibly the final on July 4.
