Six Karachi bus drivers arrested for not wearing masks

Karachi (HRNW)  Six bus drivers have been arrested in Karachi’s Saddar for not wearing masks while driving. They have been shifted to the Preedy police station.

A case has been registered against the bus drivers under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Those punished under this law can be sent to prison for a maximum of one year with a Rs600 fine.

The police are also telling passengers not wearing masks to get off the buses. Drivers who are allowing such passengers on are being issued Rs520.

The Sindh government allowed public transport to resume operations on Wednesday after two months. The transporters were, however, told to follow the government’s SOPs to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.
