Berlin’s Fashion Week is moving to Frankfurt

Germany’s Fashion Week, which until now has taken place in the capital Berlin, is to be held in Frankfurt next year, the organizer said on Monday.

Frankfurt Fashion Week is to take place for the first time in summer 2021, Premium Group said.

“This will transform the financial centre of Frankfurt into a new hotspot for the international fashion and lifestyle scene and create a new, international fashion metropolis,” said the city’s mayor, Peter Feldmann.

Fashion Week last took place in January in Berlin, with around 70,000 visitors and numerous designers showcasing their new designs.

The new Frankfurt Fashion Week is expected to take place twice a year, in January and in July.

“Fashion Week and the format for Fashion Week will have to be revised,” Premium Group manager Anita Tillmann said. “You wouldn’t immediately think of Frankfurt [as a location], but it’s the perfect place.”

Detlef Braun, a member of the executive board of the Messe Frankfurt venue, said the new location would bring business benefits through “new synergies along the entire supply chain.”

The new concept for the event is to be presented in autumn.
