Islamabad (HRNW)  The Supreme Court has ordered the Supreme Court to look into its 76,000 employees, prepare a list of those who are incompetent and submit it to the court in a month.

The court was hearing a petition on regularising the people working on railway tracks.

How many employees are there in the Railways department, asked Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed.

The Railways secretary told him that 76,000 people work for the department, adding that they don’t have the computerised data of all the employees. He said that the department runs 142 passenger trains and 120 goods trains. Only 43 passengers trains are running these days because of the coronavirus, the secretary said.

The department has been hiring people on political grounds, remarked Justice Ijazul Ahsan. The media keeps showing that Imran Khan wants to bring reforms in the Railways too, he said.
