Reading Quran made compulsory in Universities across Punjab

LAHORE (HRNW) – Punjab government has decided not to issue degrees in all universities across the Province of Punjab without teaching Quran with translation. The syllabus of the Holy Quran will be taught in addition to the subject of Islamic studies, a notification has been issued in this regard.

According to details, Governor Punjab and Universities Chancellor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has taken a historic step and issued a notification to teach Holy Quran with translation in all universities across the province.

The notification said that no degree will be obtained in Punjab universities without reading the Holy Quran with translation. Lecturers in all universities will teach students the Qur an with translation.

The Quran curriculum will be taught in addition to Islamic studies. In this regard, a statement issued by Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that the Holy Quran has been the source of real guidance for us. Only teachings of Quran will improve this life and hereafter and Quran has the complete code of life revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to guide the world, he added.
