Punjab Food Authority seals factories manufacturing fake tea, substandard milk

Lahore (HRNW) The Punjab Food Authority raided and sealed substandard milk, fake tea leaves and unhealthy soda water manufacturing factories in Muzaffargarh.

According to Operations Director for South Punjab Ata-ul-Haq, 1,760kg of raw tea leaves and 15kg of finished tea leaves were seized in Haroonabad.

The team dumped 167 litres of soda water, 20 litres of rancid oil and 31kg of expired items. Meanwhile 55kg of cream and 20 litres of skimmed milk were dumped at a milk cream factory.

Thirty-one factories were fined Rs170,000 for using expired items in production.

According to Haq, the use of substandard ingredients causes deadly diseases such as hepatitis and tuberculosis.
