Karachi (HRNW)- Sindh Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawala has said that Sindh Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department is an important component of Sindh Government and playing a key role in collecting taxes and taking effective measures against drug peddlers across the province. It is a matter of great satisfactory that despite hard time due to coronavirusŲŒ Sindh ET & NC Department has achieved more than 100% tax target during fiscal year 2019-20. This he said while talking to media here on Tuesday after inaugurating new building of Director General ET & NC at I.I.Chundrigar Road Karachi.

On this occasion Secretary Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director General ET & NC Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, MD SPPRA Abdul Rahim Shaikh and other directors were also present. Earlier Provincial Minister for ET & NC and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawala unveiled the plauged and inaugurated the new building. He also visited the various parts of the building and appreciated the working environment there. He said that when in 2008 , Pakistan Peoples Party assumed the government in Sindh , the total tax collection was Rs. 7 billion and 29 crore rupees and during fiscal year 2019-20 , the tax collection was more than Rs. 80 billions..He added, ‘ Sindh Excise & Taxation Department will launch Smart Card, having multiple security features, within couple of weeks’. He said that Sindh Excise Department was the second largest tax collecting tax agency after SBR.

Addressing the officers in conference hall, Mukesh Kumar Chawala asked them to work hard and get their tax targets on time, adding that beside collection of the taxes, it was their prime duty to keep a vigilant eye upon the activities of the drug dealers and curb their activities at early stage. He also asked them to follow health advisory while disposing off their duties as their lives were more important than anything else.
At arrival , Secretary Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Shaikh and Director General ET & NC Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui welcomed the Provincial Minister for ET & NC and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawala and briefed him about the performance of the department. Mukesh Kumar Chawala lauded the performance of the officers and officials and expressed his hope that they would continue to perform their duties in the same spirit. DG Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told that a facilitation centre would also be established to facilitate the tax payers. On this occasion Minister for ET NC and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawala distributed appointment letters to newly recruited ETOs.
