Vettel does not feel pressure around his F1 future

Four-time Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel does not feel under pressure and believes a decision is in sight over his future in the elite motorsport.

“It will still go a couple of weeks, from today to tomorrow nothing will change,” the Ferrari driver told German broadcaster RTL ahead of Sunday’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in Silverstone.

The 33-year-old said he “at the minute” couldn’t answer whether he will continue in F1 after leaving the Scuderia at the end of the year.

“I don’t see why I have to let myself be put under pressure,” he said. “In a certain way I have made my decision, now we will see if something sensible comes of it or not.”

Vettel has been intensively linked with Racing Point, who will rebrand as the Aston Martin works team from 2021. Italian media report Vettel could agree a long-term deal which would also include a role as brand ambassador.

“If the right packet comes around the corner, I am of the opinion that I still have a lot to give,” said Vettel. “If that is not the case then I have no interest at all in continuing just to be there.”
