Karachi rain: Vehicles stuck on Sharae Faisal, roads flooded

Karachi (HRNW) Karachi’s major roads were flooded following continuous monsoon showers Tuesday morning. Many vehicles were stuck as gutters and nullahs have overflowed in different areas.  Flight operations have been suspended too.

Traffic on Sharae Faisal has come to a standstill after nullahs overflowed on the thoroughfare. Naagin Chowrangi flooded too as no arrangements were made to drain the accumulated water from the road. Many cars stopped working because of the water and a traffic jam has been reported till the Green Line bus stop.

Traffic jams have been reported at Kala Board, Anklesaria, Tibet Centre, Jail road, Shafique Mor, Avari Tower, Do Talwar, Maripur, Truck Ada, among other areas.

Korangi Causeway has been flooded too because of which traffic is being diverted from Qayyumabad to Jam Sadiq bridge and Godam Chowrangi to Jam Sadiq bridge. Water has accumulated near Malir Khator Nadi and the road has been closed for traffic.

Multiple cars and motorcycles were damaged following a landslide near Gulistan-e-Johar’s Munawwar Chowrangi. According to rescue officials, no loss of life or injuries has been reported so far

Electricity in multiple areas such as Shah Faisal Colony, North Karachi, Buffer Zone, and FC Area has been suspended. According to the K-Electric, the power shortage was caused by rainwater entering feeders.

The Motorway police have advised the people to drive at a slow pace and refrain from speeding.
