Schalke sign ex-Hertha forward Ibisevic on one-year deal

Schalke 04 have signed veteran striker Vedad Ibisevic on a one-year deal, the cash-strapped Bundesliga club said on Thursday.

The 36-year-old, who recently left Hertha Berlin, has completed his medical.

“Vedad is a real boon for our squad. He is an experienced attacker who is dangerous in front of goal and who is still eager to play in every single Bundesliga match,” Schalke’s sporting director Jochen Schneider said in a statement.

Signing the Bosnian on a free is a big plus for Schalke, who have said they must make big cutbacks to survive following a poor couple of seasons on the pitch and the coronavirus pandemic.
